I was lucky enough to be asked to participate in this boho-chic styled photo shoot back in March by the awesome team at Kelsey Rae Designs. They assembled a talented group of vendors to create these faux wedding scenes (see all of them listed below) and pitched the final product to be published by various blogs. I was thrilled when

It feels good to say it ... I hate red velvet cake. Its bright ruby color brings so much promise to the taste buds, but instead delivers a bitter sponge of nothingness. I thought I was alone in my feelings toward this most popular cake flavor (you'll see I don't include it in my cake flavor menu options), until I saw this episode of Orange is the New Black and rolled with laughter ... When you are ordering a cake, I understand that you want to know exactly what you are ordering. While every client is different - some want the design process to be a collaboration and others just want to let me make all the decisions - in the end - they all share a common desire to know what to expect when the cake hits the table.
That's why I create a rendering of all my cakes that you can approve before you agree to hire me for your next event. I'm more than happy to collaborate with you to create a design that fits perfectly with your event - or I can present you with a design option of my own creation. You can see several of my "Renderings to Reality" photos below. After getting a taste of competition at the Orange County Fair this summer, I decided to enter my second cake decorating competition, at Cake Expo 2015. As much as I loved my experience at the OC Fair, there were a few differences with the structure of the Cake Expo competition that intrigued me. First, they separated amateurs from professionals and most importantly, there were nine judges for the Cake Expo competition versus only two at the OC Fair. I really enjoyed getting the judges comments and was eager to get more constructive comments to continue improving as a cake decorator.
At the insistence of my wonderful cousin-in-law, I entered my first cake decorating competition this summer a the Orange County Fair. Officially, entered into the Decorated Fondant Non-Formal Cake, Class 2 (Other Non-Formal Novelty), which unofficially means I entered a fondant covered cake for any occasion and/or any theme.
