After getting a taste of competition at the Orange County Fair this summer, I decided to enter my second cake decorating competition, at Cake Expo 2015. As much as I loved my experience at the OC Fair, there were a few differences with the structure of the Cake Expo competition that intrigued me. First, they separated amateurs from professionals and most importantly, there were nine judges for the Cake Expo competition versus only two at the OC Fair. I really enjoyed getting the judges comments and was eager to get more constructive comments to continue improving as a cake decorator.
At the insistence of my wonderful cousin-in-law, I entered my first cake decorating competition this summer a the Orange County Fair. Officially, entered into the Decorated Fondant Non-Formal Cake, Class 2 (Other Non-Formal Novelty), which unofficially means I entered a fondant covered cake for any occasion and/or any theme.
