Holly Takes 4th Place at Orange County Fair

At the insistence of my wonderful cousin-in-law, I entered my first cake decorating competition this summer a the Orange County Fair.  Officially, entered into the Decorated Fondant Non-Formal Cake, Class 2 (Other Non-Formal Novelty), which unofficially means I entered a fondant covered cake for any occasion and/or any theme.  

I immediately knew I wanted to make an Art Deco inspired cake, it's one of my all-time favorite design styles.  After much research I came up with a concept for a square five-tier design.  

There were eight entries in my class and I took home 4th place against some very formidable designs.  I'm looking forward to entering again next year!  ​
