Today marks the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day and to celebrate I've done two things. 1) I've partnered with Sustainable Travel Store to create a cake (because what better way to celebrate than with cake) And 2) I'm announcing my sustainable promise, which is this ...
I will be phasing out all products that contain Palm Oil by the end of the year. I will only use products that are Palm Oil-free or contain Certified Sustainable Palm Oil. Palm Oil is the most widely used vegetable oil in the world, it's in almost everything in your pantry right now. The problem is the way it is harvested, specifically through deforestation that is wreaking havoc on the Orangutan population throughout Southeast Asia. First I created a couple design concepts which were put up to a vote on Sustainable Travel Store's Facebook and Instagram. Once the winning design was selected, it was time to get to work. Watch the whole creation from start to finish, it's a 4 minute video that represents about 6 hours of work!

The original concept was, of course, to donate this cake to the staff at a local recycling center. Current circumstances are making that a bit difficult, but I"m on the hunt today for deserving stewards of the planet of ours.

She has a passion for sustainability, so much so that she left the security of her corporate job to dedicate her time to making this planet better for us all by giving travelers the tools to travel sustainably! Naturally Clean Hands Kit - I bought this to support my friend, AND because finding hand sanitizer was as hard as finding toilet paper. I love the hand sanitizer and I use it every time I get in and out of my car. The big surprise for me was the Green Goo Skin Repair. I used it on my lips which had gotten horribly chapped and cracked. After days of using regular chapstick I saw this in my purse and tried it. Within one day my lips were healed. LOVE IT!
Foldable Water Bottle - I got this for my sister who is a busy mom of two young boys and is constantly on-the-go. She loves how lightweight it is and so easy to store in her diaper bag.
